Nestlé Purina is a global leader in the agri-food market, particularly in the pet food market. At the Veauche site in the Loire department, more than 400 employees produce cat food.
As an agro-food industry, there are many regulatory constraints. They are subject to the ISO 9001 standard which requires them to have a measurement management system in place.
Given the size of the Veauche site, Nestlé Purina had opted to outsource calibrations and verifications of their fleet of instruments. However, even if they had the calibration certificates, they had very little data reported back to their system and therefore a lack of information available about their fleet of instruments in the event of an audit.
This is why, in order to regain flexibility and have better visibility and monitoring of their fleet, Nestlé Purina decided to internalize calibrations and therefore create an instrumentation position. They had no choice but to obtain calibration equipment.
On recommendation, they chose Beamex solutions
To be equipped effectively, Nestlé Purina needed robust, easy-to-use equipment suitable for field calibrations. They were looking for a true technology partner and calibration expert.
On the recommendation of a peer, they decided to rely on Beamex solutions and in particular on MC6 multifunction calibrator. The main task of the instrumentation technician is to enrich the calibration processes with records and checks to collect more information about the instruments and thus have better visibility on the status of the fleet.
Insourcing calibrations has enabled the maintenance teams to have better control of the calibration process:
Understand deviations and action faster
Improve calibration intervals and frequency
Conduct a risk analysis
Availability of calibration data for maintenance and maintenance intervention management
The next step for Nestlé Purina was to order the Care Plan to protect and maintain their calibrator. This helps to maintain the reliability of their equipment and maintain data accuracy throughout the lifespan of the device.
