The quality manual is the document that describes the quality management policy of an organization with respect to a specified conformance standard. The quality manual briefly defines the general policies as they apply to the specified conformance standard and affirms the commitment of the organization’s top management to the policy. In addition to its regular use by the organization, auditors use the quality manual when they audit the quality management system. The quality manual is generally provided to customers on request. Therefore, it does not usually contain any detailed policies and never contains any procedures, work instructions, or proprietary information.
