Creative Father & Daughter

Kari and Veera Autio are father and daughter from a very creative family, both familiar faces in the Beamex world.

Veera Autio is a member of the Beamex production team, working with both hardware and software. Among other things, she makes semi-finished products and creates CMX licenses. “I had worked with assembling and handling circuit boards before when my dad told me there was an opening at Beamex”.

Her father Kari’s imprint is visible in the design of the products that pass through Veera’s hands. Kari’s career in product development began in 1993. He started as an embedded software designer for the company’s calibrators and was soon involved in designing the product architecture as well. Today, he is the product owner of hardware for calibrators and develops products as a member of the development team.

“I’ve always been interested in usability and functionality, so it’s been very rewarding to be able to influence the product interfaces,” Kari says. “The work here at Beamex is creative on many different levels”.

Kari has left his mark on the PC106, MC5, MC2 and MC6 product families, among others. He was, for example, the driving force behind the MC6 being equipped with a touch screen.

While there is not much work talk when Kari and Veera meet in a family context, both are members of the occupational health and safety committee at Beamex. Team Beamex is also important to them both. Kari was at the forefront when the group started in the 1990s, and Veera is an active member today.

Another thing that unites the two is their deep interest in creativity. Kari draws comics and paints and has in recent years started building guitars as a hobby. He is also one of the members of the Beamex house band. Veera enjoys drawing and crafting in her spare time and uses her creativity to design Team Beamex advertisements.

Both father and daughter emphasize the good atmosphere at Beamex. They feel that all employees are given the opportunity to develop and learn new things and that both the company culture and the sense of belonging among employees contribute to work satisfaction.
