Beamex will enter the year 2007 by introducing a complete family of CMX calibration management software products. The products include CMX Light, CMX Professional and CMX Enterprise. The introduction of three different CMX products means that a company can choose the CMX product that best meets their needs.
CMX Light is easy-to-use calibration software intended for single workstations. CMX Professional is calibration software that offers a wide range of possibilities for customization. For instance, CMX Professional can be integrated to a maintenance management system, and it contains optional support for weighing instruments. CMX Enterprise is all-in-one calibration solution for large companies. The software covers all requirements of large companies. With CMX Enterprise, the customer receives one floating installation on the corporate server and allowing the company to share the same system with all of its locations worldwide.
The new CMX product family will be available starting from February 2007. For more information, contact info@beamex.com.

The MC5 is the world’s first fieldbus calibrator, which can be used for calibrating Foundation Fieldbus H1 or Profibus PA transmitters.
The MC5 Fieldbus Calibrator is a combination of a multifunction calibrator and a fieldbus configurator. The MC5 is a compact, easy-to-use and field compatible calibration solution that offers a lot of functionality. The fieldbus functions in the MC5 include reading digital output of the fieldbus transmitter, changing the configurations of transmitters and transmitter trimming. Calibrating fieldbus transmitters with the MC5 requires only one person and the calibration results are automatically documented.
The MC5 can be used for various other calibrations as well; it is a calibrator that provides high accuracy and versatility. The MC5 is an all-in-one documenting, multifunction calibrator. It has calibration capabilities for pressure, temperature, electrical and frequency signals. The MC5 also supports HART® communication. The modular construction of the MC5 provides flexibility for user-specific requirements.
Beamex is known worldwide for their high-quality calibration equipment as well as being a forerunner within the field of calibration. “The introduction of a portable fieldbus calibrator is one of the biggest things that has happened in the calibration market for many years. The fact that Beamex is the company that introduces the calibrator, makes us very proud,” Mr. Raimo Ahola, Managing Director of Beamex, summarizes the product development project.

Beamex participated in Finland’s TEKNIIKKA 2006 exhibition in the beginning of October. With more than 12,000 visitors and 220 exhibiting companies, it is the most important event of the year for the automation and production technology industries in Finland. At the exhibition, Beamex launched the MC5 Fieldbus Calibrator. The launch was very successful and the MC5 Fieldbus Calibrator was chosen as the best new product presented at the exhibition.

Elimko, Beamex’s sales partner in Turkey, recently supplied and installed six of Beamex’s MCS100 calibration bench systems for Botas International’s Tiflis-Baku-Ceyhan Natural Gas Pipeline Consortium. In addition to the MCS100 systems, Botas International is using Beamex’s CMX calibration management software, MC5 Multifunction Calibrators and MC5-IS Intrinsically Safe Multifunction Calibrators. Botas International transports 450 million tonnes of Caspian crude oil a year through a 1,760-kilometre-long pipeline. That type of operation requires synergy between accurate measurement and calibration.
Calibration plays an important role in the process. The main objective of calibration is to ensure that all instruments work properly, according to specifications and process requirements, through preventive maintenance actions, such as precise calibration and periodic visual checks and checks for proper functioning. Moreover, Botas International needs to know all process variables to keep their operations running smoothly. Precise calibration is the most important step in achieving this goal.
Currently Botas International calibrates level, flow, temperature, pressure and differential pressure transmitters. The main reasons for choosing Beamex’s calibration equipment were high accuracy, quality, ease-of-use and modularity.

Beamex is introducing new and improved uncertainty specifications for the pressure modules of MC5, MC5-IS and MC5P calibrators. Beamex possesses years of experience in recalibrating MC5, MC5-IS and MC5P calibrators. Throughout the years, several technical improvements have been made to the pressure modules and at the same time Beamex has analysed the specifications for the MC5 family. Years of improvements have resulted in pressure modules for the MC5 calibrators that work extremely well. Changes in specifications mean that 1-year uncertainty has been improved and begins at 0.01 %FS, and a new accuracy specification has been introduced, which begins at 0.005 %FS. The new specifications will become valid starting from the beginning of 2007.
For more information about the new specifications, download the MC5/MC5-IS brochure from www.beamex.com. |

The CMX calibration management software now includes a new function for calibrating weighing instruments. This feature is available as an option for CMX Professional and as a standard feature in CMX Enterprise.
Weighing instruments as tools for measuring are highly common in industrial environments. Accurate weighing is required whenever invoicing and production depend on the precise weight of masses. Typical fields of business where precise weighing is needed include the pharmaceutical, food and beverage and chemical industries.
Weighing instruments are typically very accurate, but they still need to be calibrated frequently to ensure that measurement value and uncertainty meet requirements. CMX calibration management software includes Eccentricity Tests, Repeatability Tests, Weighing Tests, and Minimum Capability Weighing Tests to assist in complying with all calibration requirements. CMX also stores other compulsory information, such as traceability to used weight sets and weights, environment temperature before and after calibration, environment pressure and humidity, date and time, as well as information about who performed the calibration. All of this information can be entered into the PC at the workstation or a mobile Pocket PC. CMX automatically produces traceable and auditable calibration certificates of all performed calibrations.
This new function for calibrating weighing instruments improves the versatility of CMX calibration management software as it is already capable of tracking several other process quantities such as pressure, temperature, electrical, length, flow, pH and other user-defined quantities. |
